Pocophone F1 latest update brings Widevine L1 support

The Pocophone F1 by Xiaomi was launched last year, but it was lacking support for Widevine L1. This meant videos on various streaming platforms, including Netflix and Amazon Prime, played in Standard Definition, even if you paid for HD content. The General Manager of Poco India announced on Twitter than an OTA update with the fix is finally coming to beta users.

Guys! You asked for it, we got it. #POCOF1 is now Widevine L1 certified. We have started rolling out an OTA update (version - 9.2.25) for beta users . Once the beta test is complete, we shall roll it in the upcoming stable updates. We really appreciate your patience.@IndiaPOCO

The update rolling out is version 9.2.25 should enable Widevine L1 support, but the global leader of Pocophone Alvin Tse said earlier this month some partners do not wish to certify already launched devices, so this is one of the reasons users still cant play movies in HD on Netflix. Sources say that Amazon is finally working as intended after the update.

Since the 9.2.25 update is currently in beta, Pocophone might need some time to clear all the issues, including the troubles with licensing, mentioned above. Once everything is ready, all Pocophone F1 users should get it.
