Samsung Galaxy Watch Active gets its first update

Samsung's Galaxy Watch Active made its debut at the company's huge February event, and today it's starting to receive its first ever firmware update. The new version has the build number R500XXU1BSD3 / R500OXA1BSD3, and arrives as a 13.83MB download.

That size tells you this isn't a major update, but it will apparently improve the battery charging algorithm for the watch. That means you should probably grab it as soon as possible. After installing the new release, the Galaxy Watch Active will still run Tizen 4.0.0.3.

The update is currently rolling out in the US, and it's expected to head to other regions soon. To install it, go to the Galaxy Wearable app on your smartphone and open Settings, tap About Watch and then Download Updates Manually.

The Galaxy Watch Active has blood pressure monitoring, heart rate monitoring, and it tracks stress levels as well as 39 activities with the aid of GPS/GLONASS, an accelerometer, gyroscope, and barometer. It's water resistant up to 5ATM, and comes with a 1.1" 360x360 AMOLED touchscreen with Gorilla Glass 3. It's powered by the Exynos 9110 chip with 768MB of RAM and 4GB of storage. The battery is 230 mAh.
