Official: Realme to bring smartphones in China next month

Realme started setting up its social media accounts in China the other day, and today it officially announced the expansion to its home market.

To celebrate the accomplishment, the company is offering smartphones and other goodies for everyone who subscribes for more info until May 3. Then we expect to hear an official launch date or an actual phone announcement.

Realme separated from Oppo last spring and has been doing great at multiple Asia-Pacific countries, including Taiwan, but not Mainland China. The newest smartphones are the Realme 3 Pro with Snapdragon 710 and Realme C2 with an affordable price tag, currently available for pre-order in India for $200.

We expect to see them in China as well, but due to market differences and consumer behavior, we might see a completely new phone (or at least a rebranded one).

Having Oppo and realme both at the Chinese market is hardly a precedent - it is more like a norm. Currently, Honor and Huawei phones are alongside each other at retail stores, as well as ZTE and nubia.

Only time will tell if realme can compete in the affordable price segment where plenty of local players already have built a userbase. With slogans like dare to jump, it sure aims high.
